How to use this template

The grid looks simple, but the order you fill it in decides whether the week actually holds. This is the sequence that works for most households:

  1. Plan dinners first. They take the most coordination — who is home, what needs using up, which nights are late. Write those seven slots in before anything else.
  2. Fill lunches from leftovers. Look at each dinner and ask if it makes an extra portion or two; yesterday's roast becomes today's sandwich row.
  3. Use the snack row honestly. Keep it for fruit, yogurt, or the kids' after-school standby — a snack row you actually follow beats an ambitious one you ignore.
  4. Leave one night loose. A deliberate flex night absorbs the surprise takeout evening without making the whole plan feel broken.

Making the print part work

  • Print in landscape — the sheet is laid out for one landscape page.
  • From the print dialog, choose “Save as PDF” if you want a copy on your phone too.
  • Stick the printed sheet on the fridge and let the family see the week at a glance.
  • Print two: one for the fridge, one blank for a scratch draft while you plan.

Planning takes about ten minutes once it is a routine — most people pick a fixed slot for it, like Friday evening or Sunday morning, so the week starts already decided.
